Cricket Bowling Machines
To make a world class batsmen it requires a very long hours of training in the
nets. For this they require world class bowlers too. But very often it is very
difficult to find different types of bowlers with different abilities. For example
in India we don’t have fast bowlers to bowl continuously with a pace as high
as 160 km/hr and other countries don’t have spinners who can spin the ball as
much as Muralitharan, Anik Kumble On the other hand it is not practical to employ
a bowler for prolonged hours. There are several types of expensive bowling machines
in the market. Although they differ in complexity all of them can barely mimic
the bowling patterns of a professional bowler. They use special seamless rubber
balls instead of actual leather cricket balls. Therefore these bowling machines
fail to give the batsman the actual feeling when he faces a leather ball. The
high cost of the bowling machines limit their use to professional players. On
the other hand they are costly to maintain. This project is intended to develop
a cricket bowling machine that can overcome these limitations. We were able
to achieve our main goal of producing a quality bowling machine at a low cost.
This machine is capable of imitating a range of deliveries. As an improvement
we expect to introduce a microcontroller based control system that will automate
the machine.
